Kari was 49 when she was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. It started when she was going back to aesthetician school and started noticing some unexplained leg pain, followed by stomach pain. After visiting her doctor, getting several screenings, and taking a trip to the emergency room, Kari received her diagnosis. She immediately began her treatment journey with a game plan combining chemotherapy and traditional, holistic treatment methods.

She kept her faith, maintained her positivity, and held her loved ones close during each phase of her journey. Maintaining a routine of modern treatments along with healthy eating and holistic medicines helped keep Kari on her path. Kari completed three rounds of chemo, underwent surgery, and received infusions- never losing her faith and positivity that she could overcome this. She rang the bell indicating the end of her treatment in January of 2024. While she continued some infusions, as well as medications to prevent additional tumors for a while after her treatments, Kari has been cancer free since.

She continues to remain strong and determined to live a healthy life for herself and future generations, including her children and grandchildren. She remains involved with cancer organizations like AICAF with the goal of sharing her story and reminding people to advocate for their health, hold onto their faith, and love one another through this journey.
